So at that time they only operated on people who were about to die.
Dr. Esdaile was spiritually highly developed. His patients became as stiff as Mesmer's. They could no longer move, their whole body became stiff and they had a strange smile on their faces. The patients were in a blissful state and no longer felt any pain, not a single ache.

For example: not to lie down on the fresh wound, not to do this in their sleep and not to scratch themselves unconsciously if the wound itched when it was growing together. In the hypnotic state, the patient's subconscious was asked not to allow pain, not to bleed too much and to keep the wound sterile. During hypnosis, the subconscious was also asked not to take any risks and to avoid excessive stress. The itching was also largely eliminated with the help of hypnosis. In Mesmer's time, there were already false statements and misnomers because Dr. Esdaile first brought people into a state of healing magnetism in order to be able to perform physical heart operations better and then used hypnosis to achieve better wound care, relieve the patients, achieve freedom from pain and adapt the patients' behavior after the operation.
